LaSorsa & Associates Hired Armed Agent SOP Agreement
Purpose and Scope
This agreement defines the standards, responsibilities, restrictions, and conduct expected of an Armed Agent while on duty or otherwise engaged under assignment. It is designed to ensure legal compliance, safety, professionalism, role clarity, and consistency within executive protection operations.
Command Authority and Operational Control
This agreement defines the standards, responsibilities, restrictions, and conduct expected of an Armed Agent while on duty or otherwise engaged under assignment. It is designed to ensure legal compliance, safety, professionalism, role clarity, and consistency within executive protection operations.
- Operational command authority rests with the designated Executive Protection Leader or Company- appointed supervisor for the duration of the assignment.
- The Armed Agent shall comply with all lawful directives issued by the Company or the designated EP Leader. Independent deviation from assigned roles, positioning, or instructions is prohibited unless necessary to prevent immediate loss of life or serious bodily harm.
Briefing and Orientation Requirements
Prior to assignment, the Armed Agent must attempt to receive an operational briefing that includes, at minimum:
- Principal profile
- Current threat assessment and assigned risk level
- Persons of Interest (POI) and/or Be On the Lookout (BOLO) information
- The Armed Agent acknowledges that such information is not always fully communicated; however, failure to receive a briefing does not relieve the Agent of their professional responsibilities.
- The Company or EP Leader is responsible for providing available intelligence. Lack of briefing may diminish operational effectiveness and should be documented when applicable.
Compliance with Laws and Regulations
Prior to assignment, the Armed Agent must attempt to receive an operational briefing that includes, at minimum:
- The Armed Agent shall at all times comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, and ordinances governing the possession, carriage, transport, use, and storage of firearms and other weapons.
- The Agent must hold and maintain all required licenses, permits, and authorizations necessary under the law for carrying or using a weapon in the jurisdiction of assignment.
- The Agent agrees to immediately notify the Company of any change in legal status (e.g., permit/license suspension, criminal charge or conviction) that could affect compliance.–
Conduct, Positioning, and Professional Posture
- The Armed Agent’s positioning must be intentional and aligned with the protection plan, particularly at points of exposure. This includes clarity on whether the Agent is:
- Proximal to the Principal, or
- Positioned at distance and on-call to respond as needed
- The Armed Agent shall maintain a low-visibility, non-provocative posture unless an overt armed presence is specifically required by the assignment or directed by the EP Leader.
- The Agent must remain within proximity guidelines dictated by the EP Leader and shall not independently alter positioning without operational justification.
- Unnecessary brandishing, display, or exposure of the firearm is strictly prohibited.
- The Armed Agent shall avoid engagement in off-principal issues unless the situation is life-threatening and unavoidabw.
- If a briefing is incomplete or not received, the Armed Agent shall notify the EP Leader or Company representative when feasible, and such deficiency shall be documented prior to or immediately following the assignment.
Actions During Elevated Security Incidents
- Roles during elevated security incidents must be clearly defined and adhered to:
- The Armed Agent’s primary responsibility is threat interdiction and containment.
- The EP Leader’s primary responsibility is evacuation and protection of the Principal.
- The Armed Agent shall not abandon their assigned role unless doing so is necessary to prevent immediate loss of life or serious bodily harm.
- Coordination and role discipline are mandatory to prevent confusion, crossfire risk, or mission failure.
Use of Force (UOF) Policy and Rules of Engagement
- The Agent shall adhere strictly to the Company’s Use of Force policy, which incorporates applicable laws, regulations, and accepted standards for armed security operations.
- Use of force is authorized only under circumstances clearly defined by law and Company policy (e.g., reasonable belief of imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm, defense of innocents, defense of otherwise lawful interests).
- The Agent must attempt de-escalation when feasible and use lethal force only as a last resort, proportional to the threat.
- After any incident involving use of force (including display, brandish, or discharge), the Agent must immediately report the incident to the Company, provide a written incident report, and cooperate fully in any subsequent investigation.
- The Agent must preserve all evidence, including weapon, attachments, scene, and any relevant items until cleared by the Company or legal authorities.
- The Agent affirms that they are trained, qualified, and current in the lawful use of force consistent with Company training standards and applicable law.
Gear, Weapon Carry, and Safety Restrictions
- The Agent is permitted to carry only approved weapons and gear as explicitly authorized by the Company in writing. Any changes to weapon or gear must be pre-approved.
- The Agent shall not carry weapons in ankle holsters, shoulder holsters, or any carry method deemed unsafe or unapproved without special approval in writing. Concealment or carry methods must permit safe retention and quick control, minimizing risk of accidental discharge or unauthorized access.
- The Agent must carry appropriate holsters and retention devices rated for safety and retention strength, as approved by Company policy.
- The Agent must avoid carrying weapons in a negligent, careless, or reckless manner. When not on duty or in transit, weapons must be securely stored.
- The Agent must not consume alcohol, illegal drugs, or any substances that impair judgment or motor skills while armed or on duty. Prescription medications that may impair performance must be disclosed and approved in advance.
- Uniforms, gear, and weapons must be maintained in clean, serviceable, and safe condition, ready for use. Any defects or damage must be reported immediately.
Secure Storage and Transport of Weapon
- The Agent must have the ability to lawfully secure their weapon in a locked, inaccessible container or compartment, in compliance with applicable laws.
Insurance, Liability, and Indemnification
- The Agent must carry and maintain required liability insurance (or be covered under Company policy) as needed for armed operations, weapons discharge, bodily injury, property damage, and other risks as required under law or Company policy.
- The Agent agrees to indemnify and hold the Company harmless from liability for any act or omission that violates this agreement, applicable laws, or is outside the scope of Company policy.
- The Company reserves the right to require proof of insurance, licenses, permits, and other relevant documentation prior to and during assignment.
