Bodyguarding is also referred to as Executive Protection, Close Protection or Executive Security. It is the profession which provides physical protection to another person or asset.
3. Who can be an Executive Protection Specialist / Bodyguard?
Under most state laws, those wish to be an executive protection specialist/bodyguard must be licensed in their state to do so, most commonly as a Private Investigator. An executive protection specialist/ bodyguard is any plain clothes personal protection specialist, who may or may not carry a concealed firearm. Additionally, any person who carries a firearm while under employment or providing executive protection must carry their firearm concealed at all times, and must also hold the applicable state license to do so, which is different than a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit.
4. I am a martial artist and/or military veteran. Can I be an Executive Protection Specialist / bodyguard?
Not necessarily, you need to have specific experience and/or proper training to do so, as well as being licensed in your state. A martial arts expert or weapons expert does not necessarily make a good executive protection specialist/bodyguard.

In most states, no. You cannot 1099 sub-contract. However, if there is no agency involved, the liability is directly on the client and his personal liability insurance.
8. Are you currently hiring employees, security guards or bodyguards?
Unfortunately, we do not hire agents directly/full-time. We sub-contract to licensed and insured investigators, protection specialists and consulting firms on an as needed basis. You may submit your resume or CV via email which we will keep on file for such an instance.

Yes, especially if you are new to the security profession. Many agencies provides training, however ensure your training is appropriate. Avoid flashy and kinetic training schools which focus on tactical and weapons training unless you are working overseas in a high-threat, combat area; as you will learn this is the type of action which you should be trying to avoid at all costs.

11. Why do you not include firearms/medical training like this other training course I hear about / read about online?
About most other executive protection training schools out there:
While we will not say they are bad schools that you should not attend, they typically have too many instructors, course topics and training days to be worthwhile financially. The money you will spend on these schools will not be easily recovered, so you must consider your ROI (return on investment). Also, they tend to focus their training effort (and advertising) to the kinetic, flashy and tactical aspects of this profession. They have hours and hours of training on driving, shooting and martial arts. Not only does this exponentially raise the price of their course due to training materials, instructors and training time, but it also shifts the focus of your entire training from proactive to reactive. This kind of thing is the exact type of situation your training should teach you to avoid. (Consider this, the U.S. Secret Service has not had an agent on presidential protection fire a round since 1901 due to their emphasis proactive measures) This training is best received by a specific training venue for each type, i.e. Red Cross for CPR/First Respondent training. Also, you will commonly find pictures of tactical high-speed training on these school’s websites, however what you will usually not see is instructor bio’s and there background info. Commonly because it isn’t there or it is irrelevant, even if they do provide it, that or they will give the smoke and mirrors and say they are former special ops and have worked closely with the Seals and the Secret Service, etc etc., but its all bogus.
Our course is designed to provide you the most bang for your buck, and is primarily focused on the most practical and functional aspects of executive protection; preliminary assessments, advance work, and constructing and executing a physical protection detail. These skills, coupled the preventative measures we teach will effectively enable you to operate as an executive protection specialist in today’s world better than any other course will.
Make a common sense decision when deciding what training to take, let the experience of the instructors and the realism and relevance of the instruction sell you. And the bottom line is no one else has what we have.
